“Let difficultly transform you. And it will. In my experience, we just need help in learning how not to run away.”

Pema Chodrun

Isn’t that something? This quote ran through me… Many of you know that I’ve been in the process of growing this nonprofit. I’ve had some difficult moments and some great moments. My support system reminded me that, I can not let the difficult moments or situations transform me. I can’t allow feelings of defeat or the lack of something or someone telling me “no” to transform me… to stop me. In those difficult moments we can say a lot of things to convince ourselves otherwise and those moments will still transform us. We have to let it transform us in a positive way.

Has anyone ever felt like running away when something became difficult? Or giving up when something was too challenging? I’m here to tell you not to run away… don’t give up! Those difficult moments are intended to transform you into something bigger… something better… something you didn’t even foresee. Are you saying to yourself it’s easier to run away… it’s easier to give up… less thought… less responsibility…nope!

All too often, we make excuses and try to avoid facing difficulties. Some of us find it easier to blame other people and things instead of looking within for answers. Sometimes, fear leads to stress which can lead to feelings of defeat… which leads to avoidance…in the long run, avoidance only makes our problems bigger and harder to overcome. When you learn to stop running away from difficulties, you’ll reclaim a sense of peace and control over your life.

Here are a few things you can do when you feel like giving up or running away from something:

  • Take some time to reflect
  • Smile just because
  • Remember you are human and not perfect
  • Take pride in your accomplishments
  • Take time to yourself
  • Talk to someone you trust
  • Don’t get distracted by the next thing
  • Practice reciting affirmations
  • Be true to yourself
  • Be patient
  • Practice mindfulness

We are all going to have moments and feelings of frustration… difficult moments… things that don’t go our way… relationships that change… but let this be a reminder to let difficultly in your life transform you. And it will. In my experience, we just need help in learning how not to run away.

Until next time my Kings and Queens,
